Vacancy: Permit to Work Issuer

Location: Brimsdown

We are currently recruiting for a Permit to Work Issuer to join our Engineering team based in Brimsdown to write and issue permits in conjunction with their designated areas. The role will also require the incumbent to support in the auditing and monitoring of permits issued in their area for nights and weekends, as well as across the entire site on a rotation basis.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to write and issue permits for all work conditions including but not limited to hot works, working at height and confined spaces. As such, you will have a deep under-pinning knowledge of your assigned area and of the Permit to Work process through developed and demonstrated competency.

Key responsibilities
  • Write and issue permits and approve associated risk assessments and job safety analyses within your assigned production area

  • Liaise with all necessary parties to ensure all written and issued permits follow the correct procedures and adhere to the appropriate legislation

  • Validate all necessary information is provided for permits

  • Participate in routine cross-skilling initiatives to develop permit issuing competence in other areas across the site, providing support, guidance and advice to others where necessary

  • Review/audit any permits issued within your assigned area outside of your assigned working hours to reinforce standards and compliance

  • Raise SIMOPS issues and recommend actions to mitigate to all those impacted

  • Participate in random audits across all areas of the site

  • Provide feedback to EHS on permit issuing and safety improvements through Enablon and attendance at safety meetings

  • Act as the department lead for Enablon incident and near miss investigations, root cause analysis meetings and safety observations

Are you the ideal candidate?

You will have:

  • Industry experience

  • Knowledge of Permit to Work systems and control of works

  • GCSE Grade C or equivalent in Mathematics and English

  • Competence with computerised systems; knowledge of engineering software packages (ie Frontline) would be advantageous but not essential

  • Good level of written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong focus on health and safety in the workplace
