Guidant Global are delighted to be recruiting this important position for Business Disability Forum. This is a non-salaried position with up to four meetings per year and regular contact with the CEO. As Chair, there is likely to be a regular time commitment per month to ensure full visibility of trust activity and engagement.

Business Disability Forum is a world-leading membership organisation bringing together business and the public sector to build disability-smart organisations. They have more than twenty five years' experience providing high-quality advice and guidance, in-depth consultancy, business to business networking and knowledge-sharing relevant at all stages of the journey towards greater disability confidence.

Their Disability Standard defines Best Practice and provides the benchmark against which organisations measure their performance on disability across the entire business.

Their task-forces and networks regularly bring together their Members and Partners with disabled opinion leaders to share best practice and create change in their specialist fields or areas of common interest and mutual benefit.

The role

The Chair will hold the Council and Leadership Team to account for Business Disability Forum's mission and vision, providing leadership to the Board of Trustees (Council of Management), ensuring that each trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of Business Disability Forum. The Chair will act as an ambassador and the public face of the Organisation in partnership with the Chief Executive.

The requirement

  • Experience of operating at a senior strategic leadership level within a national organisation.
  • Experience of Organisation governance and working with or as part of a Council of Trustees
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of the Disability Sector and current issues affecting it
  • Financial management expertise and a broad understanding of charitable finance issues
  • Ability to commit time to conduct the role well, including travel and attending events out of office hours
