Yodel are looking for an experienced Transport Shift Manager with very strong people leadership and engagement skills to work over the Christmas period on an 8-week contract working 14.00 to 22.00 Monday to Friday. We need a passionate, enthusiastic and experienced pair of hands that can support the team and ensure the execution of all planned schedules for the site within agreed service levels.

The role of Shift Manager holds responsibility for the day to day transport operation of the site and associated out base locations ensuring agreed service levels are maintained whilst being carried out in an efficient and safe manner. The Shift Manager will work closely with the Sort Centre Management team to ensure continuity of service.

Responsibilities

* To ensure the execution of all planned schedules for the site within agreed service levels.* To monitor achievement of national and local KPI's and implement corrective actions where required * To maintain an awareness of costs, ensuring that the transport function operates within agreed budgets* To maintain high operating standards ensuring the transport function fulfils its legal responsibilities relating to the Operating Licence. * To ensure Health and Safety standards for the site are maintained, taking responsibility for corrective actions* To ensure absence, performance and other ER issues are managed professionally by Transport Supervisory team, taking responsibility for cases where required* To develop the VOC team to a high level of competency, identifying development and succession opportunities for team members* To maintain effective relationships with all suppliers * To maintain a strong and effective relationship with the on-site Sort Team, working collaboratively to achieve and exceed targets* To work with the Sort Team to seek ways to improve current ways of working* To contribute to business projects at a local and business-wide level where required* To maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders* To maintain a strong and effective working relationship with the trade union * To ensure Yard Management systems and processes ensuring are fully utilised and maintain effectively* To effectively implement changes to transport activities during peak periods and special events* To deputise for Transport Manager as and when required

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

* Knowledge of transport operations and management* Knowledge of transport management systems * Up to date knowledge of driver's hours and working time regulations* Transport CPC holder * Experienced people manager
