Overview

This qualification is aimed at people who would like to develop a basic knowledge of the adult social care sector and explore the type of job roles and services within it. It will also cover the role of communication and the importance of valuing the individuals being cared for. This is a 10-week course taking place 1 day a week. 

Description

A series of 10 workshops will explore different types of job roles and services within Adult Health and Social care, the role of communication and the importance of valuing individuals being cared for. To complete the course learners will aim to achieve 6 credits by completing all the mandatory units below.

  • Introduction to the adult social care sector = 1
  • Introduction to the values and principles of adult social care = 1
  • Awareness of the skills and attitudes needed to work in adult social care = 1
  • Awareness of communication in adult social care = 2
  • Awareness of the roles and responsibilities of the adult social care worker = 1

Who is it for?

ANYONE! There is no previous learning or knowledge needed to enrol on to the course making it easily accessible to anyone who would like to learn more about this subject area. However, ideally, individuals who would like to develop their understanding and or knowledge within the Adult care industry.

Requirements

No previous qualifications or knowledge are required to attend the course, all we need you have is the keenness to want to know and learn more about the Adult care world!

Career Path

Nearing the end this 10-week course, we hope to match you with a local Residential Home within the Bedford area where you can work alongside professionals working towards your Level 2 certificate and head towards an exciting new career path within the care sector to help make a difference within your local community.

It also allows for progression to the Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care or the Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care. Learners could also go on to work towards the Common Induction Standards.

Cost

FREE if receiving a means-tested benefit - Course is free of charge to learners who are unemployed and receiving Universal Credit, Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support, Housing Benefit or Council Tax Relief. 

Otherwise, £155 (19 years and above), however, please see the bonus scheme we are offering, and monthly payments can be arranged as well.
